Beckett Oil Furnace Hard Lockout Occurring every couple days

My Beckett Oil Furnace keeps getting a hard lockout after the ignition trial fails. We cannot seem to diagnose the problem yet. Our mechanic has replaced the nozzle and the controller, but we are still getting a hard lock out. If anyone has any thoughts, please let us know.

Ideally, the technician should provide you with some information that would help diagnose the problem. Did he give you any combustion readings (something he would have done after replacing a nozzle), pump pressure, or ohms of the cad cell when running?

They replaced the nozzle, igniters were cleaned and cad cell replaced and the cad cell is now reading around 150-200 ohms once the flame is on.

The running ohms is excellent. Is it going "poomph" when it's manually reset? (is it burning off excess oil after restart)

If he's throwing parts at it, have him replace the ignition transformer and clean cut solenoid, and after that the aquastat I guess.

Did he bleed it after lockout and was there any air in the stream?

In any case, don't push the reset more than once at any one event.

Seems like an igniter but I'm not there.

I would have him do an ohms test on the igniter and verify vacuum and pressure readings on the pump. If your tech is a certified technician have him call the Beckett tech service line. We work with tradespeople to help diagnose the service issue

Yes it is burning off excess oil once it ignites finally. I poof of smoke comes out after the restart actually works. I will get him to check the igniter and hopefully that helps. If not I will let you know. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Based on the burn-off, there is a high probability the ignitor/ignition transformer is bad. But first, the electrodes must be filed/shaped, and the gap and dimension adjustments around the nozzle must be within specification to guarantee ignition or a new ignitor won't help. If the electrodes are shaped and set properly, the ignitor is the next guess.

Remember, if the tech changed the nozzle, he must reset combustion - every nozzle is different despite the ratings printed on them.
