May I ask what the arrow on the equipment should be point to? To the boiler ( pull) or to the room ( push) ? Any differences for the black and green models? Thanks

Black is sold to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to include on their package boilers.
Green is what you get when you purchase from a distributer.
    Both pumps are identical

Arrow points in the direction you want the water to flow.
Away from the boiler if you install it pump on the supply (Hot out) pipe
Into the boiler if you mount is on the return pipe (less desirable location in many cases, but) may be required on some tight HX boilers when using Primary Secondary piping

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

    This book might help. https://www.heatinghelp.com/store/detail/pumping-away-and-other-really-cool-piping-options-for-hydronic-systems

Pump direction really depends on how system was designed. There are systems that pump direction is away from boiler and other systems that pump is towards the boiler.

Black or green paint makes no difference. In most cases, Taco pumps come from factory painted green. Many boiler manufacturers seem to prefer when the Taco pump is painted black instead.

Reading through this tread, and looks like your question was addressed. Arrow point in direction of flow which should be away from expansion tank
