Splitting a heat zone

I have a 3 zone baseboard heat system plus 1 zone for DHW. I’d like to hear some thoughts on splitting a zone. Currently this zone covers the LR, DR and Kitchen. I would like to separate the LR and DR and keep kitchen on one or the other with a thermostat in LR and the DR. Large expense for no gain?

    Its a significant 'chunk of change' to create a new zone--mostly for the sake of your convenience. Each zone needs its own circulator (or zone valve) and its own thermostat. You're not necessarily reducing the amount of heat (BTUs) needed. So there is not really much operational savings--unless you're willing to operate a cooler kitchen, or cooler LR/DR. Placement of the 2 thermostats is important as well as "operation" of DOORS...for isolation of the newly-created, two different interior "climates."
