honeycomb combustion liner? what is this thing?

I have a Heat Controller, Inc warm air oil-fired furnace, probably about 20 years old, with some kind of combustion chamber liner that is like a honeycomb cage. Or maybe this is a sort of flame modifier and the liner is on the walls of the chamber itself.
But there is a section missing (lower left) from this honeycomb liner (see photos). I assume this both exposes the chamber walls to more heat than desired and/or reduces the heat of the flame.
Doesn't seem likely I could repair it with a wet pack, although maybe if I temporarily fabricated a metal frame to support the wet blanket until it dried. I haven't unbolted the fireplate yet to get a better look at things, just pulled the burner off to get the pictures, so I'm not sure how practical that idea is.
In looking online at various distributors and searches, it seems like Heat Controller may no longer be business, and in any case no one lists parts for it.
I discovered this condition only because the flame kept going out, which I think is either the ignitor or the primary control. The cad cell is pretty clean and I cleaned it a little more. Shorted thermostat wires to eliminate that question. Plenty of oil in tank. I'm going to run the Carlin recommended test procedure on the ignitor tomorrow.
Anyone have an idea what my options are? How urgent is it that I replace/repair this liner? Can I continue to run the furnace for a week or two (once I repair the flame ignition) until we deal with the liner?

Ok, thank you kindly. I had done some internet searching before, but no luck. Maybe I can find the liner now, if it's still available. The brochure you posted has a phone number too, and I'll call if I can't find a local distributor. My dad put a paintbrush in my hand when I was 4. I've been makin a mess ever since.
