My peerless forced hot water oil furnace with tankless coil, installed in 2009 has started making strange wheezing noises. Does it sound like the end is near? Attached YouTube link thanks for help

    At first it sounds like Darth Vader, then it transitions into squirrels screaming in agony. You can't pinpoint it? (The screwdriver to the ear test?) I don't think I've ever heard anything like that on a hydronic boiler. Circulator?
    The scorch marks around the burner door is a tad worrisome. Not sealed properly? When was the last time it was serviced? Is there a combustion report?
    I don't think it's time for a new boiler. It's just time for a little pro TLC.

    Just had annual winter cleaning/service. Of course it wasn’t wheezing while the tech was working on it but he said everything looked good and 89% efficiency and then just as he was packing up it started wheezing and he said “oh, that’s a cracked boiler, it could last a day, a week or 5 years, we’ll get you a quote on a new boiler”

    Noise comes from inside box

    @ChuckP3

    Call your service company and talk with the service manager. Post where you are located someone may have a better recommendation than the company your using.

    If the boiler was cracked, there would be water everywhere.

    My boiler makes wheezy whistle noise toward the end of a cycle. The boiler is 40 yrs old and could go any day but until then….

    The boiler is not capable of 89% efficiency while having the burner properly tuned for clean combustion. Misadjusted burner that may now have carbon buildup. Have him come back and tune it properly. Anything above 86% efficiency would cause major issues with your chimney and chimney liner and corrosion of your cast iron block.
    Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.
