Rinnai E110C 2012

I have a Rinnai E110C Combi its actually my house. The question is what is the function of the condensate collector 809000081. The condensate trap I understand but this is the little gray plastic collector that resides right behind the trap. It looks full of turns. I'm think it provides a vent otherwise I can't think of what its purpose is. Its leaking and I will be replacing it. Thanks

Good questions. It looks redundant although the darker grey one looks as though it has additional condensate inlets.

Call Rinnai and ask them. And then let us know. (800)621-9419

Good picture. That's the one on the right. What I figure is the condensate is really double trapped the smaller darker gray has possible inlets but it seems to serve as a vent b/c the top of the "hub" looking part of the condensate collector has a sort of rubber seal that has what looks like a vent on top of it. My part is leaking right there and therefore I am replacing it. But what purpose this serves is unknow to me without calling Rinnai. That's for the insights and Rinnai tech number.

Just called Rinnai. The condensate collector is there to provide an air lock or air gap so if the water was to rise in anyway into the E110C from the condensate pump below it would supposedly be checked and stopped at the collector. So its really a check valve of sorts according to Rinnai.
