Pex-a repair - does the new pex-a specs have to match

I need to remove a damaged piece of pex-a o2 barrier tubing.
The new section will be 5' long and ends on the return side of a radiator.
Do the specs (O.D, ID, wall thickness) have to be 100% the same, or is there a little leeway?
The existing Pex is only sold in min. of 250' so trying to reduce waste.

If it is a different ID you have to use a fitting for that ID, either change the fitting on the boiler end or use a coupler that is the 2 different sizes for the splice. It won't seal if the fitting is a different size than the tube. If the new tube is smaller it could restrict the flow too much to properly transfer the heat depending on the specifics of the application.0

The numbers on the tube tell the story. CTS refers to copper tube size, so 1/2" pex is 5/8" OD.
SDR 9 is typical for heating and plumbing pex. So any brand fitting or tube should match up.
Every 3- 5' pex tube should have a string of listing and dimension numbers printed on it.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

1/2" pex-a is 1/2" pex-a. They're all compatible with each other, regardless of brand. Also, you should be able to buy <20ft sticks at pretty much any supply house0

But not all PEX-a is O2 barrier. Check the details.GroundUp said:1/2" pex-a is 1/2" pex-a. They're all compatible with each other, regardless of brand. Also, you should be able to buy <20ft sticks at pretty much any supply house</p>
