HELP!
My heatpump has full refrigerant, new defroster board, AC worked fine all summer. Switched over to HEAT, compressor and fan comes on but only runs for about 15 20 seconds then compressor and fan shuts off and it goes into emergency heat mode. Filyer inside is new.. It will cycle back, compressor and fan come on, line hot, but shuts off again. It had R22 in it, its full, everything else is good. I'm cold and can't afford a new unit need to get this one fixed. Any ideas? What else can we check? Please email me baltmdpilot@aol.com or send a message.

when did you fill up on the R22 last?
it might be time again,
and if it is, it's really time for that new systemknown to beat dead horses0 -
My brother filled it up 2 hours ago . He knows what he's doing but can't figure this out. He readings said it was full, line is hot now. AC worked fine. Why would it keep shutting off and starting back up? I live in MARYLAND and I have no heat. Any ideas what else he can check, anything in the inside unit? If I loose you please email me

bypass the defrost board to see if it stays running. you could have a defective defrost control or a sensor on the defrost control.0

I don't have the money for a new system. I just had to use my paycheck to get the R22.0

New defroster board, took the one out last week put in last year out, replacing it with new one. Thank you, anything could be happening in the inside unit? It comes on, then shuts off and goes into emergency heat. It will just keep doing that over and over. I shut it down, have emergency heat on 63, I couldn't stand the cold. My brother is a great mechanic and has out in many HVAC systems, this has him stumped. I don't have the money to pay for a new system and can't take on a new bill. My boss has ALS and my job is tetering on a fine line. If he pulls the plug I will need to find a job real quick and at 64 that will be tough. I am very worried about all this and my brother lives an hour away from me. Any other ideas to check I will pass on to him, I hate the cold and with metal rods in my back the cold is making me feel bad.

Well its going into defrost for a reason. did you change the defrost sensor? Also doesn't mean the new board is not bad unfortunately. if i inderstood you correctly you put a new one in last year0
