stuck gas valve

in Gas Heating
Gas valve on old Premiere furnace is stuck in ON position and I can't move to Pilot to light it up. Actually I can't move it from the ON position in any directions.

    Need more information and pictures. And keep the gas to the furnace shut off until things get figured out.

    Have you pushed down on the gas valve red knob while you try to turn it?.

    I remember those old premier gas furnaces, they came equipped with several different valves, even in the same model year. Do you know what valve you have? Penn, White Rogers, Honeywell? Can you post a picture?
