This Monday my psychogard 450 went off the rails. After 3 years of approximately 105000 "checks" (4x24x365x3) the control would not exit check mode. It would perform its function as safety device if low water condition simulated, killed burner, opened feeder, probe satisfied, burner refired, feeder closed but at next check would hang and not exit after 60 seconds. This kept burner locked out and only resetting power would reset timer for another 15 minute cycle.

I took this failure as a sign from the dead men to help my boiler be the best it can be and therefore swapped it out for safgard 450. Ahh to hear the burner run full tstat cycle vs cutting off/on 3x times. The cg450 works the burner train /gas valve 3x what is necessary and kills efficient steam production and imo is a terrible product for proper installs and attentive steam users. I am almost looking forward to our 6 month heating season with the safgard!

I see no evidence of a surge, The control works as designed for lwco situations as tested several times and correctly work with burner and feeder cuts and calls. It just cannot exit the next 15 minute intermittent test/timer loop. Board looks fine. I don't know if a simple timer function on the board or something else. From older threads others have isolated where to jump the board to circumvent this annoying check function/timer. I wont do so but if that were done then the device would work in the same manner as the safgard.

I understand why the cyclegard is pushed default. As it notes it is designed for "foaming" boilers aka hack installs. But a real pos for a proper install.
