in Oil Heating
so this has like 4 or 5 professionals I've paid to come out stumped. Everything on the thing is new at this point. Have spent 1k on replacement parts so far. Sometimes it'll run for a few seconds, few hours, sometimes the whole day without tripping. There's no pattern. Yes, I get it serviced. EVERYTHING has been checked. Electric has been checked from the breaker to the motor because that's what I thought too. Electrodes/gun are fine. No clogs. Nothing. Usually it'll run a full cycle before tripping. I'm about to just buy a new one. It's not very old. I have a video but won't let me attach it. It ignites as well everytime button is pressed and goes out within a second or 2 sometimes. Anyone that might have an idea, I can send the video to.

First, a furnace from 2018 should not have that primary on it. It likely came with the Genisys 7505B. The Honeywell 8184G is not compatible.
It seems like the 8184G is the culprit. The contacts aren't holding.
You didn't say if all these techs were from the same company. If they were, find a new company. Whoever put that primary on that burner doesn't deserve to work in the industry IMO.6 -
Good luck..Go to Oil Tech talk..Alan Mercurio.. The man... mad Dog 🐕0

Hvacnut thank you! They were all from different companies and not one said anything about the control. It was replaced multiple times and it was always honeywell.0

Unfortunately Oil techs and oil companies are too quick to theow the "parts cannon" at a piece of equipment. They do this because
1. Labor is expensive and they have another job to go to.
2. They are unwilling to spend the time needed to troubleshoot the problem.
So they throw parts at it and a lot of guessing and "hope" they fixed it.
They may have put an older replacement control on the burner butI doubt that is your underlying problem.
I assume you have an indoor oil tank.
I would start with:
Oil filter clean, oil strainer in pump clean, oil line clear with good flow to the burner. Correct oil nozzle, clean and properly set electrodes and burner gun assembly. Check ignition transformer output. Check all wiring for loose wires etc,
Check flue pipe, chimney and draft and clean heat exchanger. Install correct primary control. Start burner adjust and combustion test and check cad cell ohm reading.
Run indoor blower motor with the burner off and check overfire draft. This may indicate a cracked heat exchanger.
Check "find a contractor on this site" and post your location city. Someone may have a recommendation of someone who can help you.2 -
Looking at the video is looks like the relay is breaking down ....
There was an error rendering this rich post.

I'd check the burner motor and it's capacitor. I've seen the oil pump solenoid valve cause a malfunction like that. These components can be tested with a multimeter.
I agree that the R8184G should go in the garbage. I'm not a fan of the original Genisys control either. A modern Carlin primary control has diagnostic features that could be useful in troubleshooting.
