Boiler Issues

I have a Slantfin S90 EDP natural gas boiler. Today I turned on the heat to the house on for the first time this season but noticed some issues. The boiler is left on year-round to also heat the hot water.

The temperature on the boiler was at 140°F before turning on the heat, it went to 159 about 15 minutes later when I turned off the heat, then to 203 within 5 minutes of that. The high temperature was concerning. Is there a reason it would be running this hot (possibly due to air in the system – see below)? The pressure did remain constant at around 20psi.

We have hydronic baseboard heat. There was a sloshing sound in the pipes. I believe this might mean there is air in the system that needs to be released.

Any help is appreciated!

That "sloshing" sound is certainly an air-in-the-system issue, and you will need to purge the air out.
That noise is typical when air is present. It might even wake you up at night when the heat kicks on.
