Does anyone know what this gauge is on oil burning furnace?

in Oil Heating
We had an installer 3 years ago put in a new Roth tank, it worked good the first year. The second year it had numerous problems when it reached minus 30c or colder (assuming fuel was gelled or thicker due to cold weather and forgetting to put additives in). This year we went to fire it up and it sputtered like it was having trouble pulling the oil and only foam going into tiger loop like it did last year except we have not even hit negative temperatures. I am waiting for the installer (long wait times) to come back out and check everything but I did notice this gauge was at 0, I added 18psi and the furnace fired right up filling the tiger loop with no foam and has been running fine. Not looking for a fix just hoping someone knows what this is for?

I've never seen something like this before. Are you up in Canada?
There was an error rendering this rich post.

Hello and good afternoon Mr. Miller,
It is a one way check valve with a pressure gauge and Shraeder fitting to prime the oil feeding system.
If you want to treat your oil tank you can visit Tractor Supply Company, Farm and Fleet, Menards, the local farm co-op store or a truck stop in your area and buy a jug of HEET or 9-1-1 to treat your heating oil.

Do you know how much pressure is supposed to be in this valve? I can't seem to find any information about it. How does this add pressure to the line?0 -
Hello and good morning Mr. Miller,
the one way check valve with the Schraeder air valve and gauge is used to prime the system with fuel and operates with low air pressure so what little air pressure you applied is fine to prime the oil pump on your burner to feed the burner.
Don't forget top buy a jug of HEET or 9-1-1 for your oil tank Mr. Miller.
