Steam boiler gas valve

Went to clean and get my Slantfin Galaxy (don’t laugh!) ready for some cool days here in NJ. Took apart the pigtail, cleaned the sight glass drained and flushed the boiler and returns, etc.
After I relit the pilot and tried to get it to run, nothing. The boiler goes through all the “motions” - damper opens, and I can hear the gas valve start its click… but thereafter nothing.
**The corner of the top of my gas valve did crack over the summer. Not even sure how/why. Could this be the issue? (Pilot is running by the way.)

Well, you need a new valve for starters. You will have to have that replaced. Did someone drop a pipe wrench on it?

I’m not sure how it cracked but turning it to the on position broke it completely. Is replacing it, simply a swap or will the burner need adjustments thereafter?
