Reducer bushings

I am retrofitting a 20-section ARCO Rococo where previous owner had removed and discarded the original unit (Ringen).Want to replace the ARCO supply/return 2" x 1 1/4" reducer bushings (parallel threads) in order to gain the 1/2" space on each end. New angle valve and union elbow will not align with supply/return piping otherwise. I have tried adapting an Anvil face reducer bushing (#0318911880) but manufacturer admits this fitting is not a true face bushing because of NPT threads. Checked with 3 local machine shops to "chase" or rework the NPT threads, but all said I would be looking at least 2 hour setup fee @ $100-135/hr (St. Louis). No luck yet finding a retired machinist with shop equipment.
If anyone has dealt with this modification or has any guidance how to resolve, any advice and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
P.S. I am not touching the original 1905 supply/return piping.....will leave alone.

You're in for a problem trying to match things up. If you have access to the piping above and below just redo the piping to make it fit. You will be done and finished in half a day instead of screwing around with it
