18148e Aquastat

Someone posted that they found a cold solder joint on their aquastat. How? Can the PC board be removed from the housing? Sometimes I have to wiggle the vent wire bundle to get the boiler to light off.

Just get a new one, or have your service provider get you a new one and check the safety limits. And/or even upgrade to a Hydrostat and get the benefits of a more advanced control. And with a well change, a low water cut off. .
What if you do something soldering that interferes with the high limit and you end up with a run away boiler?
Commercial/refrigeration techs routinely solder boards. I wouldn't bother on that one.

You are best off with a new control...

The electronic controls are less expensive that the analog one you have. L7224U is what I recommend, others like the Hydrostat. but I don't like the adjustment dial.

L7224U will not work with a boiler that has a vent damper.  On a boiler without a vent damper you will need to install a 24 volt transformer wired to B1 and B2 to make it work with a 24 volt gas valve and ignition system.  I did this exact repair on Sunday. 

Either way, don't buy another L8148E. They always have the same problem you are experiencing. The Hydrostat for gas boilers is your best option.
