Boilermate heating issues

Hello! This water heating issue has just started recently. When the boilermate calls for heat the boiler doesn't cut in as it should. There could be a delay for 5 to15 minutes or more and then the boiler will come on and give priority to the DHW until it reaches the setpoint. Quite often the  Amtrol water heater displays  an Er3 code. So far it manages to maintain the 125 degrees setpoint. I haven't made any plumbing or electrical changes. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Pat.

    Hello @Pat_123,

You (or someone) needs to do some electrical troubleshooting, which may require a multi-meter. Could be a bad Digital Temperature Control w/Panel or End Switch depending on your systems configuration. Loose connection somewhere. Here is some information that may help.

If the water heater controller is in a standard well, then replace it with a Honeywell L4006A or equivalent.

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking that the problem may be with the boiler although it seems to work fine on a heating cycle. I checked for loose wire connections and replaced the boilermate temperature sensor but nothing changed. The error 6 on the boiler which i only  noticed a few days ago got me thinking to check the flame sensor or just get a new one. Ðoes anyone know if it can be tested??. I did clean the boiler recently so that shouldn't be the problem. So far the boilermate is maintaining the set temperature. I'll keep checking and all  help is very much appreciated. Thanks again

Hello again everyone out there who have the knowledge needed to help us to resolve our various issues and Thanks. I'm back because the boilermate heating issue hasn't gone away. The boiler is a Trinity TI/LX 150 and the boilermate is an Amtrol 41 gal with a digital controller. The boiler doesn't still give priority to the boilermate. The heating cycle seems to be OK and sometimes  does give priority to the boilermate but not all the time. Fortunately there isn't a steady need for hot water otherwise the water would only be lukewarm. When I use a jumper on the A&C boiler terminals nothing happens but with T&C terminals the boiler ignites. Could there be a problem with the Sentry 2100 or the Fenwal. The boiler did show an Er6 code last night and after a reset the heating is on again. The boilermate temperature is only remaining fairly hot due to the heating cycle as the boiler and boilermate are close to each other. Any information that would help resolve this issue will be appreciated.

    Hello @Pat_123,
Seems the Amtrol is complaining since it is not getting the heat it wants.

Seems your boiler is not firing up when needed, maybe a separate and independent problem that has an obvious influence on the Amtrol.

Seems odd that T&C work each and every time and A&C never works. Maybe a Sentry 2100 issue. How would the Fenwel unit know the difference between an T&C or A&C call ?

Time for calling in a Trinity tech ... He would know how to clean and service . Normally the flame rod and igniter will get replaced . They would know how to clean the heat exchanger and set the burner on proper combustion . For safety reasons I would not recommend this job for a homeowner ...
