Lawn Sprinklers

I have a Rainbird system with an above ground pump and expansion tank in my garage. There's no Welltrol holding tank to store water. The pump started one day when it was not scheduled? None of the zones were watering and only the pump was running? I had water pressure at the pump and it didn't need to be primed.Tried adjusting the controls with no results. Wound up turn the breaker off and then back in and it stopped?  I'd hate for this to happen when I'm not home. Any ideas?

I would check the pressure switch ...

There was an error rendering this rich post.

The pressure switch. It sounds like the pipe to the switch is plugged with debris. Shut it all down drain the thing and look at the nipple piped to the switch. Change it if it's questionable and maybe since you went to all that trouble, change the switch too. Or have you done this already as yours is an older post?
