Which 2 or variable speed Heat Pump condensers can use old 2-wire connection to the air handler?

Which 2 or variable speed condensers can use old 2-wire connection to the air handler?

I heard that Trane has such a unit. It is hard to pull new wire to this location. Need the system to be a heat-pump to qualify for the large rebate.

This will do the trick and give you more options.

Excellent tip. I should have thought of that as I installed two of their units for thermostats before.

I may want a variable speed inverter condenser though - and I think that means a communicating system with data. So far, only Trane seems to do that with two wires.

For distributors I use FWWebb or SupplyHouse, and neither does Trane, so looking for other options. Or I could just get a two-speed and use Fast-Stat.

This is a full inverter that goes down to 25% power and is non-communicating, which probably means it can somehow work with the Fast-Stat. It is the weekend or else I would be calling them.

Goodman makes a 2-wire communicating full inverter, so that is an option.

Daikin SkyAire or VRV4s uses 2 wire communication. It's available with a vertical airhandler.

The Bryant/Carrier inverter AC (5 stage) is 2 wire and I think the heat pump is too. Installed one last season and works very well.

The Goodman system I installed in my own house has the option for a 2 wire communicating setup but I've never used it.

The only reason I didn't use it was I didn't want to have to use their re-badged thermostat. I don't remember who made it, but I didn't want to be locked into only using that one. So, overall a very minor, maybe even silly reason.

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.
