I had a good contractor but like many they don't seem to care much about anything software or tech related. He couldn't provide much of an answer of what I am losing out on.
I have a two zone system with 2 Mitsubishi air handlers and a 42k compressor.
My question is, by using Ecobee thermostat I believe I lose nearly all the extra efficiency and speed control of a Mitsubishi thermostat My understanding is the ecm motor and compressor can vary their speed but only if they know a little info such as current room temp, new setting, maybe even outdoor temps also.
Am I correct with this? I dont think they will give me a hard time to swap them out but I would like to be accurate with why I am asking. I also would like to get their cloud offering also which I believe requires a couple of extra modules.
Thank you in advance!

Not sure about Mitsubishi, but Fujitsu and Carrier Infinity systems benefit greatly from using their User Interface over a third party thermostat. I do know Honeywell manufactured thermostats for Mitsubishi and programmed them for use with a Mitsubishi system. @Gary Wilson?0

Are you using one of these and is your Ecobee set up with staging etc? https://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-Electric-Thermostat-Interface-R2/dp/B01BNW6PZM0

I just purchased two of these to use with a new Mitsubishi system and Ecobee thermostats. From what I read they should work with no loss in functionality of the Ecobee.

loganizzi: did you get the AZAI6WSPMEL installed and working? Did is it in-fact operate your Mitsubishi unit with no loss of functionality including variable speed functionality vs just hi/med/low? Also I had heard that there are some functions that can only be accessed via the Mitsu controller. If you're familiar with that topic, do yo uknow if AZAI6WSPMEL provides access to those otherwise limited functions?0
