I just spoke to my local Illinois trap distributor and they said Illinois (Watts) is no longer making traps. Has anyone else heard that?

If that's true, they haven't updated their site:

I don't see the G-series there, maybe they just dropped that one.To learn more about this professional, click here to visit their ad in Find A Contractor.0

I connected with a friend at Watts about this and he said that they still provide the G Series steam traps. They are no longer branded as Illinois, but are branded as Watts. You can find them here: https://www.watts.com/products/plumbing-flow-control-solutions/hydronic-steam-heating/steam-traps/g

I've had my G traps on backorder for months already, if they weren't manufacturing them still I suppose they would have canceled my backorder instead. I wouldn't be surprised if they did discontinue it as Watts isn't just a steam trap company. They did discontinue the corner steam traps a while back.
If you had to choose where to spend your money to invest in the future, it wouldn't be residential steam.
I heavily push Tunstall TA series traps as they are by far the best value. I can sell them at half the price of the Watts 1G and can directly replace mepco/dunham bush traps.0 -
Thanks, Erin, for checking into this. I was shocked at the news, but I've seen other companies drop popular products in the past. It looks like I will need to find another supplier for the Illinois. The g/mg series bucket/ thermostatic traps seem to last an exceptionally long time with no maintenance. I'll have to give Watts a call for a local rep/ supplier. To learn more about this professional, click here to visit their ad in Find A Contractor.0
