Probably a stupid question but , I am looking to replace an older utica gas fired hot water baseboard system with a mod con. Should I just flush the lines good with fresh water before disconnecting the old unit or should I add some boiler “cleaner” , run it to circulate the cleaner then flush and refill with fresh water? Also I have some hercules boiler/system cleaner, how would I add it to my closed system? Thanks for any help. I will be adding all new pumps, diret seperator etc…

Flush with water pressure. Use the Hercules after you install the new boiler to get all the flux, oils, pipe dope, etc outBob "hot rod" Rohr

I guess the question I have is how to I physically pour/add the quart of boiler “cleaner”?0

You’ll need to pump or inject it into the system.
Most of the hydronic cleaning & inhibitors chemicals companies have injectable cans that one would use a boiler to get into the system.
But as @hot_rod has said you need water pressure in order to due the right job of system flushing.
A flush cart is what is needed.0
