Steam Vent Replacement

I feel like it’s a simple answer but before spending the money I wanted to check.

I live in a garden condo and have ceiling mounted radiators (1 pipe steam) and I need to change my vents (have been painted over which I hate, but also spitting water etc). The big one has room to easily screw a replacement right angle vent into place but my smaller one does not and I actually cannot remove the old one without opening up the ceiling - which considering vents need to be replaced on the odd occasion seems annoying at best. I cut away the drywall but have been met with what appears to be the original plaster (possibly cement) and I don’t want to destroy that if I don’t have to.

I found this …
1. can I just swap the style no issues?
2. How do I get the old one off as easy/cleanly as possible? It’s really only that very top bit that is stopping it from being removed.

NO. That "Plumber's Edge" straight-shank vent has to be vertical to work properly. Otherwise it may spit water.

I suppose you'll just have to dig a hole in the ceiling to change the vent.
