Trying a rebuild kit from Tunstall's. Little video of replacing guts and cap with these Macon kits from Tunstalls. Sure beats digging out spuds on old radiators. I think it will work for the 100+ radiators to do. The bodies and rads will get cleaned up and painted along the way.

below is video, the only way I could figure out how to get size to fit from my phone. Not to adept at video editing.

Does the rebuild kit let you meter the steam the way the original guts did?

Don't you have 2 styles of the Slyphon ? The ones that had round wooden handles have different innards...  With a 100 to do I'd look for a deep socket that would eliminate the channel locks especially in tight spaces and a battery powered impact gun..
But it looks good ( except I Prefer the old handles ) and it's a great way to preserve the system 👍
One way to get familiar something you know nothing about is to ask a really smart person a really stupid question

Reggi, this was just a first test. Sockets etc coming for the full re do. I do have some round handle Webster Sylphons but supposedly this retro kit works on those too, I will check. I too like wood handles also but no offer for those with this retro. Also we may be going to thermostatics?
    Thanks for input

I can't say enough about Tunstall.   Noel (RIP) and Steamhead turned me on to them many moons ago...never dissatisfied...Mad Dog 🐕
