How to set Matco-Norca auto vent
Lambini
Member Posts: 11
I just purchased a Matco-Norca HAV-125 auto vent for one of our cast iron rads. I've been manually bleeding air out and wanted to replace the traditional 1/8" bleeder with this manual/auto bleeder. Received it with no instructions. Can someone tell me do I turn it fully to the right or left to set it to "auto" ? Thanks.

turn clockwise to auto. CCW to manual, and keep turning CCW to remove it, it has a ball check valve so you can take it out and replace it.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

With the cap screwed down, it’s the cellulose fiber disc inside that act as the valve. Air releases when they are dry, when wet, they swell and shut off. It takes a few seconds for those discs to swell, so they may drip a bit when first installed.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

One might ask why do you have to keep bleeding air out? Air doesn't just appear in a closed system once it is initially filled and bled a couple times.0
