Anti-Condensing Valve
Part numbers:
Complete unit: 2400-538
Actuator only: 2400-539
Cartridge only: 2400-141
I can see why you ask, as the Laars provided parts are very expensive.
If you only need the actuator
It is the same as this and saves you $150.00
https://www.supplyhouse.com/Honeywell-Home-VC8114ZZ11-Two-position-Low-Volt-Actuator-for-VC-Series-Valves-w-Flexible-Conduit-Adapter
But as you can see does not have the end connector which you can re-use from your existing.
Or if it's just the cartridge in the valve you need to change,
https://www.supplyhouse.com/Honeywell-Home-VCZZ1000-Replacement-Cartridge-for-VC-Series-2-Way-Valves-w-Quick-Open-Flow
It has to be between one of these two and it's cheaper than installing a new valve.
Edit: being reminded of the importance of being provided serial numbers different year models can use this model
Part #: 2400-451
Laars will have different color wires and connector for the two leads.
To answer your question, yes you can use a zone valve (which is what it is).
The original is high Cv. Your common honeywell zone valve has a Cv of 3.5. So you should opt for a customizable pop top actuator and valve body with higher Cv. I cannot answer whether that is purposeful design and is absolutely needed.
Or find a good deal, such as https://www.ebay.com/itm/194866339617
