Clanky Trap, why?

So i finally received the last three trap rebuild kits for the Sarco T25 s. I opened the first up only to find out that I'll need new taller lids as well.
After putting the original assembly back together it started this clanking at 5am. Unfortunately the unit is occupied with an Airbnb customer so i removed the diaphragm while the new tops are made and shipped to me.
My questions are:
- why did it start clanging after removing and putting it back in?
- is there something else i could have done other than remove the diaphragm to get rid of the clanking? (It was quiet before opening it)
Thanks
