I believe that is a vapor system ore even a vacuum system. Never came across one but others have on this forum. Look at this post from several years ago:

That's a Webster "Type R" Vapor system, assuming the radiator fittings and air trap are also Webster. The Return Trap is covered in chapter 15 of "The Lost Art of Steam Heating", which you can get from the Store on this site.All Steamed Up, Inc.
