Have a Beckett oil burner on a V8H oil-fired burner and we woke up and one zone isn’t heating. I understand opening the valve might fix it. But which valve?

When a thermostat calls for heat, it will either open a zone valve or turn on a pump. When you say "valve", it sounds as though your system has zone valves controlling the zones in which case your thermostat or zone valve could be the problem. Some pictures of the valves and pumps around your boiler will help.8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

@Uxstephanie, you have an interesting question. I imagine that you have more than one thermostat in your home from your Query. Can you provide more information about your system? It sounds like the valve you want to open is a zone valve. And to open a zone valve you want to locate the inoperative valve and there should be a hand operated lever that you can place on MAN for manual. This is a temporary fix until the zone valve can get repaired.
Here are some common zone valves with the manual open dial or lever.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
