Hey guys I have a really old home boiler
CRANE series BA. 110-f my heater company says it needs to be rebuilt all the firebrick is all crumbling apart , is this something I can do my self I am a general contractor and have done everything in the field but just want to be sure I don’t make a mistake seems that all I need to do is remove and clean the old brick out and lay some firebrick and mortar the joints best I. Can they want to charge me an arm and a leg . I always fix everything myself any input would be great to hear from some experts . I have a video and photos if I could post them on here some how

you could but do you want to? There could be asbestos in there.
I would look into lining the old chamber but you really need a burner guy to pick the correct liner or chamber depending on you oil firing rate and a combustion test when complete. There is more to it than just doing the chamber.

Antonio, I've done this before using either a quickee kit or the matte. I've fixed the bricks with the high temp mortar and lined the chamber with matte or used the correct type of chamber. here is catalog from Lynn with alot of stuff for your needs...you have to do some research looking to see if they have a kit specifically for yours...mine i had to figure it all out since they were too old and not listed..and since you are a contractor you have all the skills you need to do it. Just read enough on size boxes...nozzles..wet or dry base...nozzle height from floor..etc0

Awesome thanks so much yes just trying to do my research anything is better then what it is now it’s an absolute mess in there just a pile of rubble basically the heater is probably from 1930s I know I won’t find any specs on it probably I know I need to just find the supplier where I can order everything like you mentioned . I know there is more to it like some previous comments and I totally agree , I won’t do something unless I am 100% on board with how to do it properly . Thanks so much for helping me with that info0

ok..you're welcome and good luck...maybe order from the company direct..not sure ..but you can check it out..also i noticed alot of info here searching the word chamber and other words!..of course there are alot of things that need to be checked other than just making a new chamber...but the chamber would have to be done to the correct size before you can do anything at all.0
