Honeywell VF06 feeder question

The boiler in my house has the Honeywell VF06 water feeder. There is a red knob on the bottom of it. Is that knob supposed to be open or closed in normal boiler operation? Thank you.

Instructions attached. They do not say which way to turn it. I would assume clockwise (looking from the bottom) would be off and counterclockwise would be on.
This is a controversy. Some will say (me included) to keep it on and some will say keep it off. Most keep it on.1 -
Thanks for the help. I did find this diagram of the valve and to me , it looks like it has to stay open.

The handle on the bottom is a manual on-off. The top controls the pressure setting. It does not have to stay on but that is the way they are most often used0

Look like a bad spot to install it , how can you service it ?
There was an error rendering this rich post.

That’s the way it was when I purchased the house. It will be a pain to service, but I’ll leave that to a professional.0
