RTV on taco 110 gasket?

Putting in a Taco 110 bearing assembly. Is using permatex/rtv on either side of the gasket recommended? Im sure the mating surface will be a bit rough. Thanks!

@hockeyman70s The bearing assembly should only be sealed with the gasket material, additional sealant is not recommended. Prepare the casing by cleaning the old gasket material and any debris from the area. If the casing mating surfaces are damaged and unable to seal properly with gasket alone, then the pump should be completely replaced. Gasket making material can easily break free and get caught in the impeller or foul the seal and should be avoided.
