Installed this today but did not drill out the orifice, is it required? There is already a hole drilled out looks like 3/16. Probably 70,000 btus in whole house. HW heat. Also how to set the electrode slide. Ill called the tech line tomorrow but picking your brain here.

    1. Don't just drill the hole any bigger unless you understand the pressure to orifice ratio for the BTU content of the gas you are using.
    2. Don't operate the burner unless you have the proper tools to set up the burner adjustments with combustion testing equipment.
    3. Did you follow the installation instruction for proper commissioning of the burner?
    4. Has the heat exchanger and combustion chamber been thoroughly cleaned?
    5. Is the vent connector and chimney free of any blockages

That is just in 2 minutes off the top of my head.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

What make and model boiler? Carlin lists the orifice size needed in their OEM guide, for natural and LP gas and BTU input.

If Carlin knew what boiler it was going in, they would predrill the orifice. If not you're on your own. The manual shows the correct hole size according to the BTU needed. Use a drill bit to check the size of the factory hole.

The WTGO-4 has 2 possible input ratings: 140,000 and 168,000 BTU per hour.

    The EZ-Gas manual is here:

    https://carlincombustion.com/wp-content/uploads/MNEZGas-061715-production.pdf

The lower rating calls for a 1/4" hole.

The higher calls for a 9/32" hole.

Try the lower one first. If the boiler performs well, you don't need to re-drill.
