Slant/Fin 230 Galaxy
Greed
Member Posts: 2
I had 2 Slant/Fin Galaxy 230 boilers installed last February 2021. There has been nothing but problems with them including a replacement of one because of an internal leak of the cast sections after a month of use. This year, a week after start-up, I started having issues with the fire-retardant material in the fireboxes flaking off onto the burner tubes and pilots shutting down the boilers, usually one at a time and occasionally both of them. The longer they ran, the closer the intervals needed to scrape off of the tubes and finally ended the winter cleaning the tops of the tubes daily and removing the tubes completely on a weekly basis for a though cleaning. I also had to shut the other original boiler down due to a leak between the sections. does anyone have any suggestions on what the issue is or has anyone else had these issues? Thanks Gary Reed

Are the flue gasses condensing?0

I'm sorry to hear that. slant fin went out of business recently. getting replacement parts such as the refractory you need will be exceedingly difficult.0

That's unusual for a Galaxy. Were the boilers tuned with a digital combustion analyzer when they were installed? All Steamed Up, Inc.
