Combination Boiler/Water Heater or Separate Units

Should I replace my current hot water boiler and water heater to a combination boiler/water heater?
I've researched the Navien but someone told me that some homeowners have leaned toward keeping the two systems separate. In this way, if lets day the heating is down, the hot water heater is unaffected and vice versa.
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

No question that two separate components gets you some redundancy. If that is a priority, go with separates.
plenty of combis out there these days, your installer should stock common repair parts for a quick repair.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

Why replace at all? Boilers can have long lifespans. What Combis can certainly provide is some space saving.0
