I have a Honeywell thermostat with heating, cooling and fan capabilities but my hvac system is just h only, heating. Should I get a thermostat for heating only or does it not matter. Also, I have 3 wires with green, white and red coming  out of wall. The green and white was connected at W on the wall plate and red to Rc. Is this correct?

If you have a warm air furnace , duct work and a blower is used. Connect Red tp RH , White tp W and Green to G .. Radiators or baseboard , R and W .... Some programable units you set to heat only for simplicity . The less expensive models uses switches ...

There was an error rendering this rich post.

remind us again where the green, red, and white are connecting back at the boiler or valves,

that thermostat can work as heat only,
