Good afternoon. I have a quick question. We are about to install a new slant fin tr30htpz. The supply house did not have one with out a hot water coil so they sent me one with a coil. I currently have a indirect storage tank for domestic hot water fed from 1 inch tapping on front of boiler. The plumber wants to utilize the coil to feed the storage tank. I really have not had an issue with the way its currently plumbed. Has anyone attempted to this? Your thoughts

Thanks

If you are happy with the old install have the plumber install a cap with a hole drilled in it (hand Tight). The coil will be able to be used when the current hot water maker fails.

You can feed the indirect from the tankless coil.

But to do that your going coil-coil.

You will need an expansion tank, pressure reducing valve , air vent, circulator pump , water make up with backflow preventer.

I suspect your plumber may not know this because why would he spend the xtra $$$????
If he hooks it up without this you will be buying a new indirect

Maybe you misunderstood what he wants to do. If he wants to heat the indirect off the boiler (like the old one was)

    and

Use the tankless coil to preheat the cold water to the indirect I could see doing that. It might give you a little more hot water capacity

I think im going to leave it the way it is. Ill have him pipe it with shut off vales in case indirect fails.

    Thanks
