What is in there how? Do you have test equipment?

If that Beckett has the fixed "F" head, no. The flame will slam the target wall, and probably produce smoke, soot and CO.

You're going to up fire it and produce a longer flame that will probably impinge on the target wall. No good. Even temporarily. And if like mentioned it has an F head, it'll be unstable no matter what.
Tell your cousin, for his safety and because you love him, you recommend an oil pro service and test the system.

    I am not a pro.

I would see if there is a pump psi that is 100 or more such that the larger nozzle doesn’t exceed the max firing rate. For all you know, the current nozzle is at 140 or even 160 psi. This would require a pressure gauge.

Personally I wouldn’t change any nozzle without a flue gas analyzer - though I know experienced people can.

So, I feel like I would need my burner tool bag to consider putting in any other nozzle.

Ya gotta love the relatives especially the ones that have nothing to do with you until they have no heat. They are always the ones that buy their oil from "Joe's Discount Oil" the lowest price in town that doesn't have service. And they do nothing to maintain the equipment between "service calls" which was the last time you were there. And the equipment is always junk.

I have had a few of those relatives & friends myself
