Weil Mclain WTGO-3 Peephole bolt broken

We have a Weil Mclain WTGO-3. The peephole flange was loose and there were fumes coming out of the peephole. We tried to tighten in little bit but it broke off. We had to drill a hole into the existing bolt to put a new screw to hold the peephole flange. Is any screen or bolt ok or only a specific type of screw or bolt should be used due to high heat in the chamber? Thanks!

Whatever can keep the door tight.
If you're getting fumes then the system needs to be serviced immediately. Air should be drawn in while open, nothing should come out.

    Agree with @HVACNUT

your boiler is probably sooted up or the flu or chimney partiall blocked. best to have it checked.

Put some "anti seize" on the bolt available at any auto parts store

Tried to drill the hole to remove the broken bolt but no luck. For now, was able to put the peephole flange with a regular screw. Is it ok to just use regular screw or need a special screw due to high heat?

Any steel bolt is fine. If it is hot enough to damage steel you have bigger problems.

Listen to the others that say you should have negative draft at that door and get a good oil burner tech to fix the draft issue.

There has been multiple tech visits. Draft issue only resolves temporary than the issue is back in couple weeks.

Tech visit 1: Cleaned boiler worked fine couple weeks.

Tech visit 2: Cleaned boiler again, changed gasket, changed nozzle recommended chimney sweep. Got the chimney cleaned as well but the issue still comes back in few days now.

Any suggestions what could be the problem?

Did the boiler needed to be cleaned a second time?
    What are the draft measurements?
What are the combustion numbers (printout)?
    What size nozzle? Pump pressure?
Is the burner blower wheel clean?
Usually on that boiler, if it's not properly cleaned, and the flue piping isn't correct, it doesn't draft well.
How about some pictures of the burner, and back enough to see the flue pipe.
Also what kind of chimney/how high and if it's an outside chimney (3 walls of chimney exposed).
And at the top of the chimney, should be 3' higher than anything near it within 10'.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
