Anyone here install or recommend scale/mineral filtration systems on the take-up water for the boilers and/or hot water heaters?

Hello, I'd like to know more about what problem you're trying to solve. Generally one cannot filter out dissolved minerals in the water unless you go to reverse osmosis, and that's usually for small quantities of water. Heating boiler feed water is an old practice for removing hardness from makeup water. Softening can work for domestic water if you don't mind the added salt. So, tell us more!

    Yours, Larry

I was curious to know if filtration on the makeup water would help mitigate deposit buildup within the system, particularly on moving parts and on seals.

Yes highly recommend it..As per VDI 2035 or the new ANSI H 1001.1
Check out the NF 2 Refill unit from Magnetic...Not only will it deionized the makeup water, it also has a meter.

You boiler should only need to be filled once, hopefully it is not taking on additional water?

choices are to “fix” the water before you fill the system, or add chemicals to sequester the minerals in the water already in the system.

For the potable water there are many different solutions. Best to have the water analyzed to determine the best treatment
