Found something unusual today

Today i went to look at a replacement of a
Weil Mclain EGH 115. No hartford loop to start. Then saw 2 different F&T steam traps piped so the condensate went into radiators below. Did not get pic of that but did get pic of this and almost all of the traps this way. I have seen hot water loops from the boiler but this was interesting to say the least. Also has a condensate reciever. Anyone seen this craziness before? Could there be a reason for this? Thanks in advance

They may be trying to milk heat out of returning cond water. Not a lot of BTU's in that.
Some older systems used a ceiling hung rad for a condenser to keep steam out of the return water.0
