Best LWCO brand?

Hi,
I have had 3 LWCOs fail in the last 12 years. One failed after only a few months, one lasted about 2 years, one lasted about 5 years, and one is still working! My first question is, how long should I expect these to last in normal use? Should they be periodically replaced, even if they appear to be functioning?

My second question is, do any of you recommend a particular brand? I have used a Mcdonnell & Miller GuardDog and Hydroevel Safguards, but I see that Taco makes them and I am sure there are other brands. Any opinions? :)

Thanks in advance.
Bob

Probe type. Probes need to be removed and cleaned yearly. Nothing will last if not maintained. No reason why the probe shouldn't last 10 years if cleaned yearly.

I have about 30 years on a float type MM.
Trying to squeeze the best out of a Weil-McLain JB-5 running a 1912 1 pipe system.

    Hydrolevel.

But why are they failing? If you don't find the reason they are failing the replacements will fail just as quickly.

    Wiring issue? Boiler water surging?
