I have an old fedders gas furnace. Two zone two stats. When I turn on zone 2 (heat only) I have no issue. When I turn on zone 1 the gas fires up but seems to have a load clicking noise. Not sure where it’s coming from but it seams from the gas valve. Do you think the valve is bad or something else?

We would need to see the wiring.
Is the zone panel and thermostats using a separate transformer or the one in the furnace?

Chances are the thermostat opens the zone damper and an end switch on the damper tells the furnace to run. Mabe a bad or sticking damper actuator or thermostat. Trace the wires and see where they go.

If it's hooked up as I say you could disconnect the wires to the bad actuator and tape them up then lock that damper open or remove it and run off the good stat until you can get it fixed up
