I have a Rinnai 120 combi boiler running on propane
we started it up but it won’t stay running unless I cover 50 % of the air intake Any
suggestions?

Need to get a combustion tool on that to figure out what the settings should be at...0

Is the intake piping about the same length as the exhaust. And they should exit about the same place, same pressure zone
If you are pulling inside air directly into the boiler without any piping, you often do need to choke down the intake a bit.
I’ve got my intake about 1/2 covered to get the combustion numbers in the acceptable range,on LPBob "hot rod" Rohr
