Intertherm water pipe electric heaters safety and failure modes.

Hi All,
Its Keith Tripp here in Toronto. Just moved in to a new place and it is full of Intertherm water pipe electric heaters from 1972. I am removing some of them because the house also has a partial retrofit of gas furnace and ductwork. I am keeping some of the heaters going. What should I look for in terms of safety and failures of these heaters? Some of them make some gurgling and other weird sounds but still provide heat. I am wondering how they manage the pressure changes in the water tube. Looking to move to hydronic floor and wall heat in future but that is a separate topic.
