Vent rite 1

I installed a vent rite 1 into one of my radiators few nights ago..I set it at 5 just to see how it'll be. Well fast forward a few days and between adjusting it throughout the day to get the radiator hot...I know the system is kicking on daily (my other radiator is working fine) on but unless I set it to 8 it doesn't seem to get any parts of the radiator hot. Is there a big delay in when I switch the setting to when it'll take in effect? I let it go at least two heating cycles before I start again as I know sometimes it takes time but I'm stumped, is it possible I have a defective vent? Bought brand new from reliable retailer

That's a well made vent, if it works at all I'd look elsewhere for the fix. I assume this is a single pipe steam system.
What kind of vent was on there before?
Is this radiator at the end of a steam main?
What vents do you have on the other radiators?
How many steam mains and what kind of main vent is on each one?
If the other radiator vents are adjustable try turning them down so the steam should favor the radiator with the new vent.
