Most outbreaks of legionnaires disease occur where there are cooling towers.
The vapors or spray emanating from a/c cooling towers generally is the cause of legionnaires disease.
The preventative for this is to treat the water with chemicals. These chemicals will also prevent algae and sludge buildup in the cooling towers.
