Re-pipe my boiler?

I have a Weil-Mclain 140k btu gas boiler with cast iron radiators. My expansion tank (Fill-trol style) needs replacing. It currently sits on the floor horizontally and I was wondering if I should just replace it as is or move it and go with a standard tank and a new fill valve set-up. If I move it, where should it go? I also don't have an air separator so I'm guessing I should add that as well if I start changing the configuration. Thanks for any advice.

Weil McLain shows the tank installed on the return side of the boiler as an option.

I would have the circulator installed on the boiler supply "pumping away" with an air scoop and air vent. The expansion tank could the go under the air scoop or on the return as it is now

As it is, the circulator is pumping into the extrol so if you want it right, relocate it, and the fill upstream of the circulator.
There is a built in air scoop in the boiler (behind the supply riser) but it looks like it's been plugged.
