Recycling

Anyone from around the Cleveland area know where I can take an old refrigerator where it will be recycled PROPERLY and have the refrigerant removed? I took a couple old AC units last week to a local scrap yard. Over the phone they told me they remove refrigerant before scrapping them, they lied. I'm not even too concerned about getting any cash out of it either.
The illuminating company used to have a program where you could get a $50 dollar check for recycling old units, and Republic waste services will take them with bulk pickup but I know how they operate. It'll just get crushed in the truck.

I got 3 ideas
call an ac or refrigeration company and the could recover it for you.
Maybe if you stopped by a ac/refrigeration wholesaler they could give you some names
Best bet may be an appliance dealer. Some take the old when they deliver the new0
