Boiler question

in Gas Heating
There’s a gas boiler in this apartment and recently an inspector came to check the boiler. I overheard him telling maintenance that the boiler is leaking so he shut the boiler completely down but the hot water tank is still warming up. Is this safe? Can someone please tell me what’s going on with the leak and maintenance has not been back to fix it.

It sounds as though there's a boiler that does the space heating and a separate water heater that heats the domestic hot water. If this is the case, the boiler can be shut down for repairs and the water heater can continue to operate.8.33 lbs./gal. x 60 min./hr. x 20°ΔT = 10,000 BTU's/hour

One question would be ; do you still have hot water?0
